Scholarship Recipients
Victor C. and Martha Marie Whitfield Scholarship
The Victor C. and Martha Marie Whitfield Scholarship was established in 1990 following the death of Mrs. Whitfield in 1989. It was endowed by a major gift from an anonymous donor and is awarded to a graduating high school senior. Currently it is a $5,000 scholarship that is paid $2000 upon receipt of the award and $1,000 for each of three additional years if proper grades, at least a B average, are maintained by the recipient.
David B. Dibrell Scholarship
The David B. Dibrell Scholarship was established in 2018 as a permanent scholarship, also to be awarded to a graduating high school senior, and to always have a cash value more than Pot of Gold Scholarships. Previous recipients have received a $3,000 scholarships.
Pot of Gold Scholarships
The Pot of Gold Scholarships were established in 2005 to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors, college, or technical students. Candidates who apply for the Victor C. and Martha Marie Whitfield and David B. Dibrell scholarship and who do not receive one of these are then considered for the Pot of Gold Scholarships. Additionally, full time college students may also apply. Half is paid on announcement and the remainder upon the completion of the first semester with a B or better average. Previous recipients have received no less than $1,000 scholarships.
